Topics discussed-

“Modus Operandi” sessions-

Awareness  during Anaesthesia,

 Depth of Anaesthesia Monitoring,

Pharmacology of drugs used in TIVA,

 TIVA systems.

Administration of TIVA for general surgery;

and how it is adapted for special situations

-from Neurosurgery to Paediatric surgery

-from ENT surgery to the Freelancer’s practice.

Emerging TIVA- The era of viable and safe Total Intra Venous Anaesthesia is emerging with the availability of drugs like Propofol, Fentanyl, Remifentanil and Dexmedetomidine.

ASA 1&2 patients-TIVA can be administered easily and safely even  with a less expensive infusion syringe pump. Basic anaesthesia monitoring is enough. So, it can be easily adapted to every operation theater with the basic anaesthesia monitoring and  freelancer's practice.

 In the severely co-morbid patients and in special scenarios- more sophisticated support with the dedicated ‘Target Controlled Infusion pumps’ and ‘Anaesthesia Depth Monitors’ can be utilized.

Complementing Regional Blocks- No patient wants to be awake during a surgical procedure done under Regional Anaesthesia. They need ‘Conscious Sedation’, through ‘Procedural Sedation & Analgesia’ to ‘Complementary General Anaesthesia’. Proper titration of the infusion rates with the TIVA systems can be easily adapted to fulfill this task safely and amicably, with or without an airway device.
